  1. I own a company with a LAN with 20 computers. How many licenses should I purchase to manage the backup of all the network of just a part of it?

You only need one lincese (35.00 Euros + VAT) to take advantage of all the integrated features of Syncronize Backup.

  2. When do you recommend buying multiple licenses?

When computers are not connected to one another.

    Examples:

    A) I have a company network but I also want to manage backup at home.

    B) I have a company network but some computers are not connected to the network.

    C) I have a company network but not all the resources are shared.

There are also significant discounts for company owners in case employees are interested, too.

  3. What's the difference between synchronization and backup?

They are two different operations all together:

Synchronization compares two or more paths and finds differences.
These differences may be either missing files or files not updated.
Once differences have been found, synchronization automatically copies the missing files in their proper paths so that the paths look the same again.

Backup on the contrary, copies the files from the selected paths without comparing them.

  4. Which is the best solution?

It depends on how many paths we have to manage and on what you need. Usually synchronization is enough for 3 or 4 paths, whereas backup is better for a higher number of paths.

  5. What are the differences among standard backup, complete backup and differential backup?

Standard backup simply copies filles from one path to another. Complete backup create a folder with the format Backup_dd_mm_yyyy (e.g.: Backup_26_10_2003) and copies the selected files into the folder.
This solutions has the advantage of always having one or more copies available but eats up lots of space.
Differential backup creates a folder in the same format as complete backup but, instead of copying all the selected files, copies only the most recent ones that have not already been copied in the previous complete backup (because at that time they did not exist). Therefore it saves space.

  6. Which is the best kind of backup ?

Of course it depends on your needs.
Usually a standard backup is the most appropriate because it takes up little space and it is the easiest when you have to restore data.

  7. What is the FTP SERVER option?

An FTP server FTP is usually a computer of a Hosting Service Provider (such companies host websites).
If your company has a website, the computer where this site is located is an FTPserver. Syncronize Backup can connect to any FTP server and see it as an ordinary drive (Floppy Disk, Hard Drive, etc.).
You have the advantage of having an extra copy of your data safely stored (your data are stored on an unknown computer which only you can access with the necessary login information).
Don't forget that you can also easily view or update your data from wherever in the world. Unfortunately, this service is quite expensive, usually € 200 - € 1,000 a year, depending on the company.
To make things easier, you'd better ask the company that hosts your website.
